Publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer inXile Entertainment have officially announced a 2027 launch window for Clockwork Revolution. Showcased during today’s gaming presentations, the first-person role-playing game is slated to debut on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, serving as an Xbox console exclusive and a day-one addition to the Xbox Game Pass catalog.

Set within the flying steam trains and mechanical infrastructure of Avalon – a Victorian-era steampunk metropolis – the game follows the industrial rot and severe class warfare engineered by its tyrannical ruler, Lady Ironwood. By using an advanced device to manipulate the timeline, Ironwood has actively altered historical events to keep the city’s working class impoverished while consolidating her own immense wealth. Players step into the role of Morgan Vanette, a completely customizable protagonist and a member of a rebel faction known as the Rotten Row Hooligans, who aims to use time travel to disrupt Ironwood’s regime.
Clockwork Revolution‘s gameplay revolves around a deep narrative sandbox where your decisions create a literal butterfly effect across the city’s timeline. Traveling between the past and present, the choices you make will procedurally alter Avalon’s physical layout, character relationships, and storefronts.
The RPG framework allows players to specialize Vanette’s attributes, gear, and mechanical skills from the ground up. This progression loop supports a variety of tactical playstyles, including the ability to build custom clockwork weaponry, hack hostile automaton patrol robots, and utilize advanced time-bending gadgets to navigate encounters across Avalon’s history.
