Simone Xbox Game Studios and developer Halo Studios have pulled back the curtain on Halo: Campaign Evolved, a ground-up reimagining of the classic sci-fi campaign. Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, the first-person shooter is slated to launch on July 28, 2026, arriving simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. Subscribers will also be able to access the title on day one via Xbox Game Pass.
While the core package features a faithful restoration of the original ten campaign missions, a major addition comes in the form of Operation: METEORITE. Included across all game tiers, this original three-mission narrative arc serves as a prequel taking place twelve months prior to the events on the ring.
The side-story follows Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson infiltrating a Covenant research vessel for a covert UNSC extraction mission that quickly escalates. Developed alongside veteran science-fiction author Troy Denning, this addition integrates fresh environments, space-based combat sequences, and new enemy types like the Brute Berserker into the classic combat sandbox.
Pre-orders have opened across all retail channels. Early buyers receive the Foundry Armory Pack, unlocking retro 2001-inspired skins for the Mark V armor and Assault Rifle alongside modern Gilded Onyx cosmetic variations. The game is divided into three buying options:
- Standard Edition ($49.99 / €59.99): Contains the core package, featuring the 10 remade base missions and the “Operation: METEORITE” prequel chapters.
- Premium Edition ($69.99 / €79.99): Grants a five-day early access window starting July 23, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack (containing 5 character skins and 6 weapon finishes), and a digital bonus app containing a production artbook, a nostalgic instruction booklet, and Denning’s prequel short story, Halo: Hungry Buzzards.
- Collector’s Edition ($199.99): Features all digital Premium content alongside physical memorabilia, including a steelbook case, three concept art cards, a physical printing of the game manual, an illuminated LED Cortana chip replica, and a 12-inch Master Chief statue produced by Dark Horse. Physical discs are supplied for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions, while PC buyers receive a standard digital key.
