The JRPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth arrives on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, and will also be available on PC via the Microsoft Store, expanding the reach of Square Enix’s ambitious reimagining beyond its current PlayStation 5 and PC releases.

As the second entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues the story after Cloud and his allies escape the oppressive city of Midgar. What follows is a far more open and expansive journey, sending the party across wide regions of the planet in pursuit of Sephiroth, with their path ultimately leading toward the legendary Forgotten Capital. Designed as a standalone experience, the game welcomes both longtime fans and newcomers while reshaping familiar events in unexpected ways.
The adventure places strong emphasis on exploration, encouraging players to roam vast landscapes, uncover side activities, and travel using a variety of methods, including Chocobos. These open regions deepen the sense of scale and discovery, offering a contrast to the tightly controlled environments of the earlier chapters while expanding the world’s lore through optional content and character-driven moments.
Combat builds on the hybrid action-and-strategy system introduced previously, blending real-time attacks with tactical command elements. Newly playable characters and refined mechanics allow players to strengthen bonds between party members, unlocking powerful cooperative abilities that reward teamwork and careful planning during high-stakes encounters.
With its arrival on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and an additional PC storefront, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues its evolution as a modern reimagining of a classic RPG, inviting a broader audience to experience the next chapter of Cloud’s journey.
