BEFORE I GO, a punishing, skill-driven Metroidvania from solo developer Jérôme Coppens, will launch on April 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

The release date announcement was revealed alongside a new trailer that highlights the game’s demanding platforming, intense combat encounters, and somber tone. Ahead of launch, players can already sample the experience through a free demo on Steam, which has just received a substantial update with improvements and refinements.
Set within a haunting, dreamlike fantasy world, BEFORE I GO follows an allegorical journey centered on innocence, loss, and the acceptance of death. Players explore a sprawling, non-linear world shaped by melancholy imagery and emotional storytelling, where progress is earned through precise movement, mastery of abilities, and survival against relentless parasitic creatures.
BEFORE I GO‘s gameplay places a strong emphasis on tightly tuned controls and unforgiving challenge, asking players to perfect timing, sharpen reflexes, and adapt to increasingly demanding platforming sequences. As the journey unfolds, new powers are assimilated, opening alternative paths and deepening both exploration and combat, while reinforcing the game’s themes of inevitability and perseverance.
