The survival climbing game Cairn will launch on January 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, priced at $29.99 with a 10 percent launch discount. A Deluxe Edition will also be available for $36.99, including a Kami travel guide by artist Mathieu Bablet and three exclusive keepsakes inspired by Aava’s journey.

In Cairn, players attempt to conquer Mount Kami, a peak no climber has ever reached. As Aava, a professional mountaineer driven by ambition and solitude, every step of the journey demands careful route planning, resource management, and precision climbing across unforgiving rock faces. The experience blends the exhilaration of gaining altitude with the emotional weight of leaving behind friends, family, and the world below, offering roughly fifteen hours of narrative-driven exploration.
The ascent brings encounters with fellow climbers, fragments of past expeditions, and remnants of an ancient troglodyte culture that once inhabited the mountain. Nearly an hour of cinematic cutscenes performed by a cast of ten actors deepens Aava’s personal story, emphasizing her connection to the mountain and the sacrifices she is willing to make to reach its summit.
Cairn‘s gameplay focuses on realistic movement where every hold matters, from managing posture and balance to securing pitons and conserving essential supplies such as food, tape, and medicine. Climbing becomes a test of endurance and strategy, with each wall presenting a challenge that feels as tense as a boss encounter. Players can freely determine their routes by reading the landscape, planning from the base, and solving obstacles while suspended on the surface of Mount Kami.
Beyond the main ascent, Cairn includes an Expedition mode where players can step into the role of Aava or Marco to tackle a variety of mountains, selecting climbing styles and personalized challenges with replayability at the core. Built by the award-winning creators of Furi and Haven, the game features art and storytelling by Mathieu Bablet, paired with audio crafted by the team behind Limbo, Inside, Control, and Cocoon.
