Survival city builder DarkSwitch will launch for PC via Steam and GOG on March 12, 2026, as announced by developer Cyber Temple. A two-hour prologue demo is already available on Steam, giving players an early look at the treetop settlement they will fight to preserve.

Set atop a massive tree rising above a deadly, all-consuming fog, DarkSwitch challenges players to grow a vertical city while facing a hostile world that shifts without warning. As the settlement expands, story-driven quests and timed expeditions constantly reshape priorities, creating a demanding balance between progress and survival. The fog itself acts as the game’s central threat, modeled with custom voxel grid technology that allows it to surge unpredictably, impacting citizens’ morale, health, and the stability of the city. Once a thriving society, humanity was forced upward when the mist twisted minds and swallowed entire landscapes, leading the remaining survivors to rebuild in the canopy above the danger.
A heavy atmosphere defines the experience, supported by ambisonic audio and an eerie soundtrack composed by Akira Yamaoka, amplifying the ever-present tension. Players must develop their treetop refuge by constructing housing, industry, research facilities, and defensive structures while carefully managing scarce resources. Decisions surrounding energy, materials, and citizen well-being determine whether the city endures each new wave of fog. Venturing into the haze becomes essential for gathering rare components, recovering artifacts, and rescuing survivors whose stories deepen the overarching narrative. The game also focuses on the development of key leaders whose arcs intertwine with quests, side objectives, and the broader mystery surrounding the fog’s origins.
DarkSwitch blends strategy, survival pressure, and narrative discovery into a single vertical ecosystem where one misstep can jeopardize an entire population. With shifting environmental hazards and an unfolding story centered around four protagonists, the game aims to deliver a tense and atmospheric city-building experience driven by both risk and resilience.
