The science-fiction Metroidvania MIO: Memories in Orbit will officially launch on January 20, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store for $19.99, as confirmed by Focus Entertainment and Douze Dixiemes. The newly announced Switch 2 version joins the lineup, while previously planned PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases appear to have been discontinued.

Set aboard the Vessel, a colossal derelict ship overtaken by vegetation and malfunctioning machines, MIO: Memories in Orbit follows the awakening of MIO, a small yet agile robot left alone in a drifting world on the brink of collapse. Once maintained by AI custodians known as Pearls, the Vessel now edges toward shutdown, forcing MIO to navigate its maze-like interior, uncover scattered memories, and piece together the truth behind the ship’s downfall and their own origin.
The latest trailer highlights the game’s fluid combination of platforming and combat, showcasing how MIO’s evolving toolset enables rhythmic movement across the Vessel. The narration teases elements of the game’s mysterious lore, while the presentation leans into a poetic and atmospheric style influenced by science fiction, anime, European comics, and expressive visual arts, complemented by lo-fi beats and choral melodies.
You can already dive into the adventure through a PC demo offering two to three hours of gameplay. The demo covers the opening section and features a hidden area, precision platforming challenges, and traversal abilities including a grappling hook, gliding, and wall-clinging. It offers an early look at the game’s exploration-driven structure and sets the stage for the larger mission to save the Vessel from destruction.
