Celestial Empire, the city-building strategy game from President Studio, is now available in Early Access on PC via Steam. Priced at $19.99/€19.99 with a 12% launch discount, the game invites players to shape settlements in a fantastical vision of ancient China.
The journey begins as players take on the role of a newly appointed provincial governor. Responsible for the well-being of citizens, they must ensure food, shelter, and prosperity while carefully balancing growth and stability. A thriving city will attract more subjects, but also increase responsibilities and the risks of unrest or disaster.
With more than 120 buildings available from the start, Celestial Empire emphasizes both artistry and strategy, allowing players to design dreamlike cities on hand-crafted maps of valleys, mountains, rivers, and even floating islands. The gods of this world hold sway over a city’s fortune, aiding its development or unleashing yaoguai demons if neglected.
Managing production chains, developing technologies, and trading along the Silk Road all play a vital role in sustaining progress. Players will need to adapt to external challenges such as seasonal changes, harsh winters, fires, and epidemics, each of which can turn prosperity into peril.
President Studio plans to expand Celestial Empire with regular updates during its Early Access phase, taking player feedback into account. The full release is expected in about a year, with new content and improvements to be added along the way.
