Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Brings the Imprisoning War to Switch 2 This November

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo’s AAA Games Studio have announced Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, set to launch exclusively for Switch 2 on November 6 at a price of $69.99/€69.99.

The new entry in the Hyrule Warriors series brings players into the long-rumored Imprisoning War, a key moment in the timeline of The Legend of Zelda. For the first time, fans will experience the full-scale invasion of Ancient Hyrule by Demon King Ganondorf, a story only briefly referenced in Tears of the Kingdom.

Players will take command of Princess Zelda, King Rauru, Mineru, and an array of returning and brand-new heroes, each wielding signature abilities and Zonai Devices to battle massive enemy legions. The large-scale combat blends tactical coordination with spectacular powers as players attempt to reclaim Hyrule from Ganondorf’s forces.

The game also features two-player local cooperative play, available in both split-screen on a single system and via Gameshare across two systems, allowing friends to join forces without requiring both players to own a copy. Additional functionality includes amiibo support for extra crafting materials and rewards, as well as save data bonuses: players with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity save files will unlock the High Guard’s Claymore, while Tears of the Kingdom data grants access to the High Guard’s Sword.

With large-scale battles, cooperative play, and deep ties to The Legend of Zelda lore, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment expands the series with its most ambitious historical retelling yet.
