Square Enix will release Dragon Quest VII Reimagined for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on February 5, 2026.

Originally launched in 2000 as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, the role-playing classic has been rebuilt into a modern adventure with a hand-crafted, storybook-inspired art style. Both longtime fans and newcomers can expect a reworked version of the beloved quest, with refined pacing and updated systems that bring the world to life in fresh ways.
Players once again follow a group of heroes as they uncover the mysteries of forgotten islands and piece together a sprawling storyline. The game blends exploration of towns and dungeons with a turn-based battle system that introduces new mechanics while staying true to the spirit of the original.
Character designs originally created by Akira Toriyama have been reimagined with a unique diorama look, while gameplay enhancements range from a redesigned interface to smoother storytelling and new side content. The result is a reimagined RPG that feels both nostalgic and modern.
Square Enix also confirmed multiple editions at launch, including a standard edition across all platforms, a Digital Deluxe Edition with early access and extra content, and a Collector’s Edition available exclusively through the Square Enix e-STORE. Early buyers will unlock additional costumes and items, and digital purchases will include a platform-specific bonus shield.
