Developer Oxide Games and publisher Stardock have officially unveiled Ashes of the Singularity II, the sequel to its large-scale sci-fi real-time strategy game, coming soon to PC via Steam. A release date has not yet been announced.

To celebrate the announcement, Stardock is offering Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation — the game’s predecessor — free to play on Steam from August 7 through August 11, 2025. This version includes the latest update, which adds “Luna,” a new four-player map featuring a central critical point and multiple strategic routes across the Moon’s surface. Players can explore the full game at no cost, commanding massive armies in single-player campaigns or multiplayer battles.
Ashes of the Singularity II builds on the 2016 original with a streamlined approach to large-scale strategy. Bases are now managed through regions rather than individual buildings, allowing for faster expansion and resource gathering. Armies are organized into cohesive formations that move and act as single entities, simplifying control without reducing scale. Inspired by genre mainstays like Total War and lesser-known large-scale strategy titles such as Kohan, Ashes of the Singularity II aims to deliver both spectacle and accessibility.
Players can expect massive planetary battles with hundreds of units in motion, sprawling multi-region bases, and three distinct factions fighting for dominance over Turinium — the rare resource that serves as the currency of intelligence for both humans and AI.
Stardock emphasizes that Ashes of the Singularity II is not just a graphical overhaul of Escalation but a fresh take on the series, designed to take advantage of modern hardware for unprecedented scale and performance. More details on factions, world-building, and gameplay systems will be revealed in upcoming developer diaries.
