Developer Lunacy Studios has announced that narrative-driven adventure game The House of Hikmah will launch for PC via Steam on April 8. A demo is also currently available on Steam.

The fully voiced 3D adventure focuses on themes of grief, legacy, and the search for meaning after loss. Players follow Maya, a 14-year-old girl coping with the death of her father, as she enters a dreamlike version of the legendary House of Wisdom, a sanctuary filled with centuries of knowledge and history.
Creative director Faris Attieh explained that the studio aimed to tell a universally relatable story about navigating grief while also highlighting a historical era rarely explored in games. Through Maya’s encounters with scholars connected to her father’s life and teachings, the game also brings attention to the intellectual achievements of the Islamic Golden Age.
In The House of Hikmah, Maya explores a mysterious library-like world inspired by the historic House of Wisdom. Each new area represents the work and discoveries of influential scholars from that period. By using a device left behind by her father, Maya can manipulate elements of the environment to solve physics-based puzzles and progress deeper into the structure.
The story unfolds across nine distinct worlds, each reflecting different inventions and scientific ideas associated with scholars from the Islamic Golden Age. These encounters are presented through conversations with a fully voiced cast in both English and Arabic, offering philosophical insights while gradually revealing the truth behind Maya’s father’s legacy.
Throughout the journey, players will combine exploration and puzzle-solving mechanics that allow Maya to transform matter, bend light, glide through air currents, and interact with surreal environments shaped by memory and knowledge. As Maya unlocks new doors within the House of Wisdom, she uncovers not only historical discoveries but also the emotional truths she must face on her path toward healing.
