Publisher and developer XL Games has announced that free-to-play extraction action game The Cube: Save Us will launch in Steam Early Access on March 18, 2026. Alongside the announcement, the studio released a new gameplay trailer highlighting the game’s combat and exploration.

The trailer showcases a bleak post-apocalyptic setting centered around a mysterious colossal structure known as the Cube. Players can see fast-paced combat encounters, tense extraction sequences, and battles against powerful mutant bosses. The footage also demonstrates the use of different equipment and abilities while exploring hazardous environments.
The Cube: Save Us is designed as an extraction shooter that mixes exploration, combat, and long-term progression. Players venture into dangerous zones to collect resources and valuables while fighting enemies along the way. Surviving long enough to extract successfully is key, as the equipment and rewards obtained during a run carry forward into future missions. This loop encourages players to gradually improve their characters and gear through repeated expeditions into the Cube’s hostile territory.
Prior to the Early Access launch, the studio ran a Server Slam test using a near-live service build of the game. The test focused on evaluating server stability and core gameplay systems. Based on player feedback from across the globe, the development team implemented several adjustments, including UI/UX improvements and additional optimization. According to the developer, the results of the test are being used to ensure a more stable experience ahead of the Early Access release.
The Early Access version will introduce several new gameplay elements, including a new boss mutant named “Yaksha”, dedicated elite and boss-exclusive equipment systems, additional features such as Steam achievements, and an NPC affinity system that expands character interactions.
The Cube: Save Us will be available for PC via Steam starting March 18, 2026.
