First-person narrative-driven psychological horror game The Occultist will launch on April 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, publisher Daedalic Entertainment and developer DALOAR announced. A Deluxe Edition will also be available, including a 200-page digital art book and the complete original soundtrack.

In The Occultist, players step into the role of paranormal investigator Alan Rebels, who travels to the remote island of GodStone to uncover the truth behind his father’s sudden disappearance. Though his father frequently spoke of the island, Alan knows little beyond the fact that it was his birthplace. Upon arrival, he discovers a desolate and fog-covered settlement steeped in dark history.
GodStone was once home to a notorious cult that operated until 1950, conducting disturbing rituals and macabre experiments before the island was abandoned. No one has set foot there since—until now. As Alan explores the deserted streets and decaying buildings, he relies on a mysterious pendulum of unknown origin that has accompanied him throughout previous investigations. The artifact enables him to interact with and manipulate the environment through five distinct mechanics, forming the core of the game’s puzzle-solving and exploration systems.
The experience emphasizes stealth over direct confrontation, requiring players to hide, sneak, and avoid hostile entities that linger throughout the island. Encounters with ominous souls, occult symbolism, environmental puzzles, and psychological tension shape a survival horror framework built around atmosphere and narrative immersion. The story gradually challenges Alan’s beliefs about the supernatural, raising the question of whether the curse surrounding GodStone can—or should—be lifted.
The game also features an original score composed by Pepe Herrero, supporting its oppressive tone and cinematic presentation.
