Dotemu, together with developers Guard Crush Games and Supamonks, has announced that the arcade-inspired fantasy beat ’em up Absolum will be released on October 9 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Switch, and PC via Steam.

The latest trailer introduces Brome, a humanoid frog known as a Mowlaï, who joins the playable cast. Brome’s magical gifts allow him to combine staff-based melee strikes with ranged spells, area-of-effect abilities, and even hoverboard-style movement. Shaped by the suffering and oppression of his people, Brome’s journey reflects the game’s blend of mystical power, rebellion, and survival.
Absolum draws inspiration from classic arcade brawlers, offering branching paths, quests, challenging bosses, and unlockable upgrades that enhance replayability. The story unfolds in the world of Talamh, where the tyrannical Sun King Azra seeks to dominate all sources of magic after a catastrophic event. A resistance led by mythical allies rises against him, wielding forbidden powers to counter his growing reign.
Built in collaboration with acclaimed animation studio Supamonks, Absolum combines fast-paced melee combat with spellcasting, counters, and unique playable heroes, set against richly crafted environments.
