Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment dropped a massive surprise at Summer Game Fest 2026. While fans are gearing up for the 14th-century dark fantasy ARPG The Blood of Dawnwalker this September, a new CGI teaser completely recontextualized the future of the franchise. In a shocking twist, the overarching Dawnwalker Saga will eventually leap forward into the modern era.

Directed by industry veteran Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, The Blood of Dawnwalker serves as the self-contained first chapter of this new universe. Set entirely within the 14th century, the narrative follows the origin story of Coen, a powerful being known as a Dawnwalker. Players will navigate his bitter, violent feud with Brencis, a ruthless vampire lord ruling over Vale Sangora – a mysterious, gothic region hidden deep within the Carpathian Mountains. Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek emphasized that despite the franchise’s grand future plans, Coen’s medieval conflict with Brencis will reach a definitive, player-choice-driven conclusion with no cliffhangers or unresolved plot threads when the game drops this September.
The unexpected twist came via a separate franchise teaser, which dropped jaws by showing Coen navigating a sleek, 21st-century modern setting. Rebel Wolves clarified that the broader saga will span multiple centuries, continents, and global cultures. Crucially, the developers noted that there is no time travel involved; instead, the series will chronologically leap across history with each new entry. Every future installment is being built as a standalone game with its own distinct storyline, though attentive players will find narrative “breadcrumbs” in the September release that lay the groundwork for the modern-day secrets to come.
The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on September 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.
