Developer FallenCranberry and publisher Okasan’s Recipe have announced that Lover’s Enigma, a psychological horror visual novel, will officially launch on PC via Steam on May 20. The announcement has already sparked significant momentum, with the title recently going viral on X as fans anticipate its blend of romance and creeping dread.

The story follows a woman in her late twenties whose life is upended by the sudden, mysterious death of her husband. What begins as a search for closure quickly spirals into a dangerous web of grief, hidden truths, and the influence of a shadowy cult. Throughout the journey, players will interact with four unique male leads – each offering a different path that blurs the lines between affection and threat.
Lover’s Enigma features a massive branching narrative of over 100,000 words, leading to at least six distinct endings ranging from hopeful recovery to chilling tragedy. Beyond standard dialogue choices, the game incorporates a rhythm mini-game system designed to represent moments of self-care and emotional management amidst psychological stress. The visual style is a unique marriage of pixel art and semi-realistic illustrations, featuring over 14 CG scenes and animated sequences.
For those looking for an early taste of this unique blend of romance and dread, a playable demo is currently available on Steam.
