Sudden Strike 5, a World War II real-time tactics game, is set to release on April 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, publisher Kalypso Media and developer KITE Games have announced.

The latest entry in the long-running strategy series returns with large-scale battles across Europe and North Africa, placing a strong emphasis on tactical freedom and battlefield control. Players will command a vast roster of over 300 historically inspired units, ranging from infantry to iconic vehicles such as the Sherman tank, Messerschmitt Bf 109, and T-34, each contributing to varied strategic approaches.
Campaign progression unfolds across 25 missions designed with a sandbox structure, allowing multiple paths to success. Objectives can be approached through reconnaissance, sabotage, or direct confrontation, with environmental control playing a key role. Capturing strategic locations such as supply depots and train stations can shift momentum, encouraging adaptive decision-making rather than fixed solutions.
Customization extends to commander selection, where different leaders provide unique abilities that influence combat flow. These range from tactical support options to offensive boosts, giving players the flexibility to tailor strategies to specific encounters. The game also introduces expanded camera controls, offering both a wide tactical overview and a closer perspective on frontline engagements.
Alongside the standard edition, a Deluxe Edition includes additional content such as exclusive PvP map variants, camouflage skins, and the game’s soundtrack. Early access is also offered as part of select pre-order options, granting entry ahead of the official launch.
