Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has announced Echoes of Aincrad, a new action RPG set in the iconic floating castle from the Sword Art Online universe. The game is scheduled to launch on July 10, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

In Echoes of Aincrad, players step into the role of their own customizable hero and enter the deadly world of Aincrad, where every battle could be their last. The adventure places a strong emphasis on skill-based combat, requiring players to master dodges, parries, and well-timed attacks in order to survive encounters against increasingly dangerous enemies.
The game invites players to explore a vibrant and dynamic world filled with memorable characters and challenging quests. Extensive avatar customization allows players to create their own “player” within the world of Aincrad and shape their journey as the story unfolds. As they progress through missions and story quests, players can upgrade equipment, refine weapons, and adjust attributes while unlocking special abilities that match their preferred combat style. Leveling up further enhances these capabilities, helping players prepare for the dangers that lie deeper within the castle.
Combat encounters are also influenced by the partner players choose to accompany them during missions. Each partner can adopt different combat stances, such as aggressive or supportive behavior, which affects how they assist during real-time battles. As bonds with these companions grow stronger, players unlock powerful cooperative abilities that can turn the tide of difficult fights.
Throughout the journey, adventurers will travel across a wide variety of locations, from peaceful plains to bustling towns and perilous dungeons packed with secrets. Along the way they will face formidable monsters and massive bosses designed to test both their skill and determination as they climb the many layers of Aincrad.
Pre-orders for Echoes of Aincrad are now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Players who pre-order will receive a Weapon Pack bonus. The game will be offered in three editions, including a Standard Edition with the base game, a Deluxe Edition featuring an Expansion Pack with additional DLC content and early access to Death Game Mode, and an Ultimate Edition that adds bonus digital content such as a special anime episode, a digital artbook, a soundtrack, and an exclusive armor pack.
