The open-world survival FPS Frostrail has received a brand-new gameplay trailer, offering an updated look at its frozen wasteland and train-based survival systems. Developed by FakeFish and published by Shiro Unlimited, the title is set to enter Early Access in 2026 on PC via Steam.

First revealed last year, Frostrail places players in a post-apocalyptic empire consumed by relentless cold and warped by an ancient pact with the Void. As Penitent Gardeners, players traverse the wasteland aboard a massive steam-powered train that functions as both transportation and sanctuary. The train is more than a vehicle; it is the last defensible refuge in a world overrun by revenants and other horrors lurking beneath the snow.
The new gameplay trailer highlights the core survival loop built around exploration, scavenging, crafting, and first-person combat. Venturing beyond the safety of the locomotive means braving ruined settlements and corrupted strongholds in search of fuel, materials, and weaponry. Every resource gathered feeds back into maintaining and upgrading the train, reinforcing its role as a mobile base and lifeline.
Since its original reveal, the team has significantly refined the game’s visual direction. Large portions of the environment have been reworked, with improved asset detail and more handcrafted points of interest designed to strengthen atmosphere and environmental storytelling. The updated art approach aims to better convey the scale of the frozen frontier while emphasizing the oppressive isolation that defines the experience.
Playable solo or in co-op, Frostrail challenges players to balance heat management, fuel consumption, and firepower while navigating unpredictable threats. Each stop along the tracks presents calculated risk, and every decision shapes how far the train can push into hostile territory. With Early Access planned for 2026, the latest trailer underscores the evolving vision behind this unforgiving survival journey across the icebound ruins.
Frostrail is a brutal open-world survival FPS from publisher Shiro Unlimited and developer FakeFish, the team behind Barotrauma. The game is set to enter Early Access on PC in 2026.
