Developer and publisher DISTANT SHORE has launched the playable demo for Distant Shore: BRETAGNE as part of Steam Next Fest. The developer compares the experience to a “sandbox Portal with magnets”, focusing on physics-driven traversal and an atmospheric world. A release date has yet to be announced.

The demo offers roughly one hour of gameplay for those who fully explore the available content. It features a complete level designed to showcase the core mechanics, including environmental navigation, vertical traversal, and full interaction with metallic objects. A leaderboard system is also included, inviting speedrunners to optimize routes and compete for the fastest completion times during the event.
Distant Shore: BRETAGNE is a first-person, physics-based parkour experience built around magnetic manipulation. Players wield specialized gauntlets capable of attracting, repelling, bending, and breaking metal structures. Rather than following strictly linear paths, the game encourages experimentation—allowing for either a crafted parkour route or creatively engineered solutions using magnetic force and environmental physics.
Movement in Distant Shore: BRETAGNE emphasizes fluidity and momentum, blending high-speed traversal with environmental problem-solving. By combining parkour techniques with magnetic propulsion, actions can be chained together to reach elevated vantage points, uncover hidden routes, and shave seconds off optimized runs.
Set within a desolate region known as the West Zone, the narrative follows a mission assigned by a mysterious employer while the protagonist searches for their missing brother. Looming overhead is an ominous cloud formation that appears to observe every move, hinting at larger forces at play.
