Developed and published by solo developer Steelkrill Studio, The 18th Attic is an upcoming psychological horror game for PC (coming to Steam, GoG, and the Epic Games Store) that will now launch earlier than previously planned. Originally set to release on February 2, 2026, the game is now scheduled to arrive on January 23, bringing its unsettling experience sooner than expected. A demo is still available via Steam.

In The 18th Attic, players take on the role of a man trapped in a repeating loop inside a mysterious attic, accompanied only by his cat and equipped with an instant picture camera. The core gameplay revolves around observing subtle changes in the environment, detecting paranormal anomalies, and capturing them on film. Each photograph removes an anomaly while also unlocking fragments of the protagonist’s past, gradually revealing the truth behind the attic and the loop that binds him to it.
The game challenges players to stay alert, as anomalies can range from shifting shadows to hostile entities that will actively attack if left unchecked. Limited photo cartridges, health management, and the need to carefully scan dark corners using a lighter add tension to every encounter. Steelkrill Studio emphasizes realistic environmental storytelling, where missing a small detail can have deadly consequences.
Alongside the earlier release date, the developer confirmed that The 18th Attic has undergone extensive updates focused on accessibility and polish. These improvements include subtitle support, full controller compatibility, and localization across 13 languages, reflecting nearly a year of continued refinement since the game’s initial announcement.
