Point-and-click adventure Less Miserables has released its first teaser trailer, offering an early look at College Fun Games’ absurdist parody inspired by Les Misérables. The classic-style adventure is currently in development for PC via Steam and itch.io, with a full release planned for Q4 2026 on Windows, Linux, and iOS, including at least German and French localizations.

Set in a tongue-in-cheek version of revolutionary Paris, Less Miserables follows Claude Van Claude, freshly released after fourteen years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread. Thrown back into a city spiralling toward chaos, Claude sets out to uncover what happened to the daughter he never knew, while staying ahead of the obsessive police officer LaBleugh and the ever-growing unrest in the streets.
The game leans heavily into British absurdist humour, framing its story as an intentionally unfaithful adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel. Drawing inspiration from classic ’90s point-and-click adventures, it blends exploration, dialogue-driven puzzles, and narrative choice with a tone that sits somewhere between Monkey Island and ’Allo ’Allo. Familiar story elements are present, but reworked to remain accessible even for those with no prior connection to the original novel.
Visually, Less Miserables features fully hand-drawn environments, with around forty locations spread across Paris and dozens of eccentric characters. All dialogue is fully voiced, recorded during live improvisation sessions with performers from the Edinburgh Fringe and stand-up comedy scene. A modern, hobo-themed hint system is also planned to guide progression without breaking the game’s comedic flow.
Alongside the teaser trailer, College Fun Games confirmed that a public demo is planned for Steam Next Fest in late February, followed by a Kickstarter campaign in April.
