The atmospheric science-fiction survival game Nova Antarctica will launch on January 29 for PC via Steam, publisher PARCO GAMES and developer RexLabo have announced.

Set far in the future, Nova Antarctica imagines a version of Earth where environmental collapse, conflict, and scarcity have reshaped human existence. The game takes place in the year 2900, when Antarctica has become both a refuge and a final frontier after the rest of the planet has been pushed to the brink. A mysterious signal emerging from the South Pole draws a lone child into this frozen continent, setting the stage for a quiet but emotionally driven journey through an unfamiliar world.
Nova Antarctica‘s gameplay blends exploration, survival, and light crafting as the child navigates harsh conditions, scavenges remnants of past civilizations, and interacts with wildlife adapted to centuries of ecological change. Rather than focusing on constant danger, the experience leans into atmosphere and discovery, with storytelling that unfolds through environmental details, encounters, and player choices that influence how the narrative develops.
According to RexLabo, the project was inspired by questions about humanity’s future and the emotional weight of a world shaped by its own mistakes. Antarctica’s isolation and symbolism play a central role, serving as both a setting and a living memory of what came before. The result is a reflective science-fiction adventure that emphasizes tone, solitude, and connection over spectacle.
