Outward 2, the open-world survival RPG from Nine Dots Studio, is officially set to launch for PC via Steam in summer 2026. The studio also released a new trailer, offering a glimpse at the sequel’s expanded mechanics, enhanced combat, and deeper immersion.

The first Outward carved out a niche by stripping away typical power-fantasy tropes in favor of grounded adventuring, demanding players prepare for every journey and live with the consequences of failure. The sequel aims to refine this formula with a new combat system, an improved character creator, and much more detailed visuals, all while staying true to the spirit of surviving as an “average adventurer.”
Set once again in the harsh world of Aurai, Outward 2 introduces distinct starting scenarios, seasonal changes that transform the environment, and an Exercise system that shapes passive skills based on how players approach combat. Magic will be woven into battles through ritual spellcasting, while an intentional focus on inventory management ensures every expedition requires strategy and forethought.
Much like the first Outward, players will also be able to adventure together through online cooperative play or two-player split screen. With a mule companion to haul supplies, dynamic environments that shift with the seasons, and combat mechanics built from extensive player feedback, Outward 2 aims to deliver a more polished yet equally unforgiving survival experience.
