Game Science has revealed Black Myth: Zhong Kui, a new single-player action RPG and the next entry in the Black Myth series following Black Myth: Wukong. The game is in early development and is planned for PC and mainstream console platforms, with specific platforms to be confirmed later. A release date has not yet been announced.

While no gameplay footage has been shared, the studio released a CG short to mark the project’s announcement. The reveal continues the tradition of providing updates on August 20, the date when Game Science typically reports progress on its titles.
Like its predecessor, the new game draws from ancient Chinese myth and folklore but will introduce a different protagonist. Instead of embodying the monkey hero, players will take on the role of Zhong Kui, a legendary figure from Chinese mythology known for hunting spirits and demons. The studio explained that this choice reflects its ambition to explore new ideas, experiment with different mechanics, and improve on lessons learned from the development of Black Myth: Wukong.
Although details remain scarce, Black Myth: Zhong Kui is confirmed to follow the same business model as its predecessor, offering a full single-player ARPG experience. More information about story, gameplay, and platforms will be shared closer to release.
