Electronic Arts has officially announced that Battlefield 6 will launch on October 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The news was shared during a multiplayer reveal event that gave fans a first look at what’s coming in the latest installment of the long-running first-person shooter series. Ahead of release, two open beta weekends are scheduled: one from August 9 to 10, and another from August 14 to 17. Players who tune in to selected streamers will have the opportunity to join the first beta weekend early, starting August 7.

Set in the near-future world of 2027, Battlefield 6 drops players into a fractured geopolitical landscape following a major global assassination. As NATO reels from collapse and power balances shift, a powerful private military force known as PAX ARMATA rises to fill the void. Against this backdrop, players will fight across multiple iconic real-world locations, from the streets of New York to Gibraltar and Cairo, in both large-scale and close-quarters battles.
The game introduces a new Kinesthetic Combat System, which enhances player movement and interactivity, allowing actions like dragging and reviving teammates under fire, or mounting weapons on surfaces to reduce recoil. Battlefield’s signature destruction and all-out warfare return, with an added layer of mobility and tactical depth. Core multiplayer modes such as Conquest, Rush, and Breakthrough make a comeback alongside fast-paced modes like Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and the newly added Escalation.
Also returning is Battlefield Portal, the series’ custom mode editor, now more powerful and intuitive than ever. With expanded tools for scripting, logic editing, and world manipulation, Portal allows players to design and share their own unique game modes—some of which may even be featured officially by EA.
In addition to its extensive multiplayer offering, Battlefield 6 marks the return of a full-scale single-player campaign. Players will take on the role of elite Marine Raiders across major global flashpoints, including tank warfare in the Sahara and urban conflict in New York. The campaign ties directly into the evolving world of the game and is being developed alongside the multiplayer experience by a collaboration of four studios—Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect—collectively working under the Battlefield Studios banner.
EA will release the game in two editions. The Standard Edition includes the base game and a pre-order bonus pack, while the digital Phantom Edition adds exclusive skins, weapon content, and bonus XP boosts. Both editions will be available worldwide at launch, with regional pricing variations.
The developers describe Battlefield 6 as a return to form for the franchise, combining its chaotic sandbox roots with modern innovations in player agency and combat design. With ambitious post-launch support already planned, including new content and seasonal updates, EA is aiming to re-establish Battlefield as a dominant force in the multiplayer FPS landscape.
