WayForward has announced that Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution will release digitally on August 19 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam. The game will be priced at $24.99/€24.99.

A digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for $34.99/€34.99, which includes three exclusive costumes that alter Shantae’s appearance and enhance her magical abilities. These cosmetic upgrades will also be included with all physical editions, which are being handled by Limited Run Games. Pre-orders for physical versions open August 8.
Originally developed for the Game Boy Advance more than 20 years ago, Risky Revolution was never released on its intended platform. The game has now been completed and restored for modern systems, offering fans a brand-new installment that retains the series’ classic 2D platforming style while introducing new mechanics.
Set once again in the whimsical world of Sequin Land, the game follows Shantae as she battles against the pirate Risky Boots, who now plans to rotate entire chunks of the continent in order to bring towns closer to the coast for easier looting. In response, Shantae gains the ability to shift terrain herself, swapping between layered zones to create new paths and solve spatial puzzles.
Players will use Shantae’s trademark hair-whip attacks and dance transformations to fight enemies, navigate shifting levels, and explore a wide range of colorful, monster-filled locations. Familiar faces like Rottytops, Bolo, and Sky return, and the experience is rounded out by a new four-player versus mode—the first in the franchise.
Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution preserves the visual identity of its early 2000s origin while expanding its systems for a modern audience. With its blend of nostalgic charm and fresh ideas, it marks both a lost chapter recovered and a meaningful step forward for the series.
