Developer Refractive Entertainment has announced that its upcoming open-zone action RPG, Luminary, has officially surpassed 40,000 Steam wishlists. This milestone comes as the two-person development team enters the final stretch of production ahead of the game’s newly locked Early Access release date for PC via Steam on August 11, 2026.

Built as an ARPG-lite, Luminary balances solo play with seamless drop-in, drop-out online co-op for up to three players. Set in a fantasy world corrupted centuries ago by primal magic, players step into the shoes of a customizable “Luminary” – an immortal guardian wielding radiant energy to push back the spreading darkness.
Luminary‘s gameplay blends dynamic combat, allowing players to quick-swap between melee, ranged, and magic weapons mid-fight, with deep progression that lets characters move fluidly between solo sessions and multiplayer worlds. Beyond combat, the game features extensive traversal mechanics like climbing and gliding, resource gathering through mining and fishing, and a town-building system where players can upgrade local craftsmen to unlock better gear. The initial Early Access launch on August 11 offers players a 2 square kilometer hand-crafted map to explore, six fantasy races, and an active endgame loop featuring higher difficulty tiers.
In tandem with the release date, Refractive Entertainment has opened signups for its Hall of Heroes initiative, rewarding week-one players by immortalizing their names permanently inside the game. Signing up before launch also grants priority access to a potential closed co-op playtest targeted for the weekend of July 17. To give players a taste of what to expect next month, the studio has launched a major Steam demo update, completely refreshing a three-month-old build with significantly improved systems, mechanics, and visual polish.
