PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid’s Curse, a supernatural mystery adventure, is set to launch on February 19 for Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and iOS and Android devices, Square Enix has announced.

Set in Japan’s Ise-Shima region, the latest entry in the PARANORMASIGHT universe introduces a new standalone story inspired by local mermaid folklore. The narrative unfolds on the remote island of Kameshima, where a series of unexplained curses disrupt daily life following a strange supernatural encounter beneath the sea. At the center of events is Yuza Minakuchi, a young pearl diver whose experiences trigger a chain of incidents that draw together multiple characters with conflicting motives and perspectives.

The story weaves between these intersecting viewpoints, gradually revealing the truth behind the Mermaids of Ise, a legend buried beneath generations of myth and history. Exploration plays a key role, with detailed 360-degree environments based on real-world locations recreated in collaboration with Mie Prefecture. Investigation, dialogue choices, and newly introduced mechanics—including a diving-focused mini-game—shape how the mystery unfolds.

Building on the series’ supernatural visual novel roots, PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid’s Curse emphasizes atmosphere, perspective-driven storytelling, and investigative gameplay, while expanding its systems and setting beyond previous entries in the franchise.
