Square Enix and Artdink Corporation have presented 37 minutes of live gameplay for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake during Tokyo Game Show 2025, highlighting new seabed exploration content and expanded combat features.

Previously, the companies released a gameplay overview trailer introducing fresh systems that build upon the classic RPG foundation. Scrolls, collectible items that allow characters to learn additional abilities, and Sigils, elemental artifacts that unlock special battle effects, add new strategic depth. These Sigils—such as Sun, Moon, and Soul—can even enhance traditional techniques into upgraded “Souped-Up Skills,” like transforming Dragon Slash into Double Dragon Slash.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake brings back the original adventures with a modern HD-2D visual style. Players will once again guide the Hero through Dragon Quest I’s journey and assemble a party of four companions in Dragon Quest II, each with distinct abilities and roles in battle.
The game will be available worldwide on October 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Microsoft Store).
