DaRmaZat City Connection will release R-Type DX: Music Encore this winter for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The title revives the 1999 handheld shoot ’em up R-Type DX with new music and modernized support features.
This edition includes the classic R-Type and R-Type II alongside the “Ultimate Challenge” mode, which lets players experience both games back-to-back. For the first time, every stage features unique background music composed by WASi303, who recreated arcade-style tracks using original handheld hardware sound chips.
Beyond the enhanced soundtrack, the collection offers both monochrome and color options, as well as rewind, quick save and load, and rapid-fire toggles. Players can also view digitized materials such as original packaging and flyers, track detailed play records, and unlock achievements.
With its authentic audiovisual design and updated accessibility options, R-Type DX: Music Encore aims to deliver the definitive way to revisit one of the most iconic shoot ’em up collections.
