ININ Games has announced Apidya’ Special, a faithful 24-bit pixel remake of the classic side-scrolling shoot-’em-up, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2026.

Built by members of the original team alongside a long-time super-fan developer, the project revives an abandoned ’90s console effort and reimagines it with brand-new pixel art and modern flourishes while staying true to the Amiga original.
Apidya’ Special offers two authentic ways to play: a new widescreen presentation with enhanced parallax or a switch back to a 4:3 Amiga-style mode that mirrors 1992 down to look, feel, and sound. Legendary composer Chris Hulsbeck returns with a completely rearranged soundtrack, joined by fresh effects and remixes.
Beyond its visual and audio upgrades, the remake expands the campaign with more stages and bosses, adds optional CRT filters for a retro display vibe, and includes a drop-in co-op option where a second player can jump in as a support drone. Accessibility and difficulty settings round out the package, aiming to welcome newcomers without dulling the razor-sharp arcade edge that made Apidya a cult favorite.
