Publisher Bethesda Softworks and developers id Software and Nightdive Studios have released Heretic + Hexen for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, Switch, and PC via Steam, Microsoft Store, and GOG. The collection is priced at $14.99/€14.99 and is also available through Xbox Game Pass. Physical editions will be distributed by Limited Run Games.

Originally released in 1994 and 1995, Heretic and Hexen were developed by Raven Software and introduced genre-defining mechanics such as inventory systems, vertical aiming, and class-based combat, using a modified version of the DOOM engine. This enhanced collection marks the official return of both titles in restored editions with modern enhancements and accessibility features, making them widely available across platforms and languages for the first time.
Heretic + Hexen includes the full versions of Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Hexen: Beyond Heretic, and Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel, along with two brand-new episodes—Heretic: Faith Renewed and Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur—developed in collaboration between team members from id Software and Nightdive Studios. In total, the collection features 117 campaign maps and 120 deathmatch maps.
The new release supports online cross-platform cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to 16 players, local split-screen support, widescreen and 4K resolution, a toggleable new soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult, and a range of visual and gameplay refinements. Also included is a behind-the-scenes vault with original concept art and unused assets, and extensive mod support with a built-in browser (mods must be installed separately).
Heretic + Hexen also adds modern controller support, an updated UI with improved legibility and contrast settings, accessibility features including text-to-speech, and language options in twelve additional languages. The original DOS versions of the three classic titles are included in the Steam release.
