Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arc System Works have expanded the lineup for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, confirming both Hulk and Shuri’s Black Panther as playable fighters. The two newcomers round out “The Fighting Avengers” team alongside Captain America and Iron Man.

This iteration of Hulk brings a more feral aesthetic to the game. Dressed in dinosaur bone armor, the character’s backstory involves an exile to the Savage Land by his own teammates. In terms of gameplay, he relies on a Gamma Gauge that triggers a high-speed, high-damage rage mode once filled.
Shuri, serving as the current Black Panther, offers a technical alternative to Hulk’s brute force. She utilizes the Spear of Bashenga for mid-range control and a mobility system called Bast’s Blessing, which allows players to cancel standard attacks into multi-directional dashes. The update also introduced a Wakanda stage and a primary antagonist known as The Champion, an Elder of the Universe who forces Earth’s heroes into a high-stakes tournament.
A playable build featuring 13 characters will be available at Combo Breaker and Hong Kong Comic Con later this month. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is scheduled for release on August 6 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
