The fast-paced first-person shooter SPRAWL Zero has been announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam by publisher Kwalee and developer MAETH. A release date has not yet been confirmed.

Drawing inspiration from the golden era of early 2000s console shooters, SPRAWL Zero blends corridor-driven intensity with more expansive, world-focused level design. Its aesthetic and mechanical direction channel the Y2K period, when the genre began evolving beyond straightforward firefights into layered combat spaces that rewarded player agency and experimentation.
Players assume the role of FIVE, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier operating under the authority of a ruling Junta. Tasked with eliminating SILAS, the leader of the radical techno-religious faction IMAGO-DEI, FIVE is deployed into a city teetering on collapse. As political and militant forces struggle for control, the mission unfolds against a backdrop of unrest, fractured loyalties, and escalating violence.
Combat in SPRAWL Zero emphasizes speed without sacrificing tactical awareness. Enemy squads coordinate through flanking maneuvers, suppressive fire, and grenades, creating encounters that demand positioning and adaptability rather than pure reflexes. The design philosophy echoes the dynamic firefights of classic console shooters, encouraging players to think as aggressively as they move.
FIVE’s cybernetic enhancements extend combat beyond traditional gunplay. A Gravity Shield allows incoming projectiles to be caught and redirected, while Bullet-Time mechanics enable players to alter trajectories midair for precision shots. Additional gravity-based abilities, including enhanced mobility options and force-driven attacks, support both defensive play and relentless forward pushes. The arsenal spans more than forty weapons, each tailored to distinct combat roles, offering flexibility in how engagements are approached.
Level design is built around verticality and multiple pathways, reinforcing player choice. Whether advancing methodically from cover, exploiting physics systems for creative solutions, or charging headlong into enemy formations, SPRAWL Zero aims to accommodate varied playstyles within its gritty cyberpunk setting.
Further details, including a release window, are expected at a later date.
