Story-rich isometric CRPG Esoteric Ebb is currently playable on PC via Steam with its Next Fest demo, which offers a substantial portion of the full experience ahead of launch. After teasing a new announcement for February 25, Christoffer Bodegård and Raw Fury have officially set the game’s release date for March 3, 2026.

The demo grants access to the entire first in-game day, representing roughly half of the overall content due to the title’s highly non-linear structure. Players are free to roam the city of Norvik and its underground districts, pursue branching investigations, and shape their version of the narrative without heavy restrictions. Once the second in-game day begins, progress is paused, with save data carrying forward into the full release.
Esoteric Ebb is a Disco-like single-player CRPG inspired by tabletop role-playing systems, built around player agency and expansive dialogue trees. Set in a strange post-Arcanepunk fantasy world, the story places players in the role of a cleric tasked with investigating a political conspiracy after a catastrophic explosion rocks the city just days before a major election. What follows is a dense narrative filled with factions, shifting loyalties, and surreal encounters involving devils, sphinxes, undead, and ideologues.
Dice rolls play a central role in both exploration and conflict resolution, influencing outcomes in tense situations while allowing failure to generate alternative narrative paths rather than simple dead ends. Character stats function almost as internal voices, frequently interrupting conversations and steering decisions in unexpected directions. Quests are open-ended and can drastically reshape the cleric’s abilities and approach through a branching progression system that doubles as a skill tree and narrative map.
The demo encourages replayability by allowing players to experiment with different builds, explore alternative quest routes, and test radically different moral alignments. With years of development and an extensive script underpinning its branching structure, Esoteric Ebb positions itself as a choice-driven RPG where outcomes are shaped by both player intent and the roll of the dice.
