Surreal action-adventure game Nightmare Circus is set to launch in Q2 2026 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Publisher Red Dunes Games and developer Fairplay Studios confirmed the release window while also making a playable demo available during Steam Next Fest.
In Nightmare Circus, players step into the role of a young puppeteer who becomes trapped inside the Nightmare Realm, a distorted dimension born from a traveling circus gone terribly wrong. What begins as spectacle quickly descends into something far more unsettling, as shifting environments and grotesque creations turn the stage into a battleground. The central goal revolves around rescuing lost performers and uncovering the secret behind the realm in order to escape the dreamlike prison.
Combat in Nightmare Circus revolves around the protagonist’s enchanted puppet strings, transforming performance into a weaponized art. Players can snare enemies, slam them into one another, and chain attacks into destructive combos. Movement and positioning are integral, with encounters designed to feel like choreographed acts where each strike and collision becomes part of a deadly show. The game blends fast-paced action with environmental puzzles across an estimated eight to twelve hours of content.
The adventure balances eerie atmosphere with stylized charm, presenting a world that is both whimsical and disturbing. Skill-based combat, layered abilities, and customizable playstyles allow players to approach encounters in different ways, while boss fights and escalating challenges push mastery of the string-based mechanics.
With its distinctive visual identity and dynamic on-screen combat systems, Nightmare Circus aims to deliver a theatrical action experience when it arrives on consoles and PC in 2026.
