Developer Mega Crit has announced that roguelike deckbuilder sequel Slay the Spire II will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on March 5.

Marketed as the return of “the ultimate roguelike deckbuilder”, the sequel revisits the Spire a millennium after it lay dormant. Now reopened, the structure is described as more dangerous and unpredictable than ever, presenting new threats that demand sharper strategy and adaptability from players attempting the climb.
Slay the Spire II introduces an evolved version of the Spire, featuring new enemies, events, and encounters within a constantly shifting labyrinth. Players will build decks from an expanded arsenal of brand-new cards, relics, and potions, each capable of dramatically altering a run—for better or worse. As with its predecessor, no two ascents are identical, with randomized encounters and branching paths shaping every attempt.
The sequel features five playable characters, including both returning favorites and two brand-new additions. Each character comes with distinct mechanics, card pools, motivations, and narrative elements, encouraging diverse playstyles and strategic experimentation.
A major new addition is cooperative multiplayer. For the first time in the series, players can climb the Spire solo or team up with up to three other players in four-player cooperative mode. Multiplayer introduces unique cards and synergistic mechanics tailored for team-based strategies. Narrative elements have also been expanded. Players can uncover fragments of the Spire’s history and learn more about its inhabitants—both allies and adversaries—across multiple runs, gradually piecing together its deeper lore.
Mega Crit confirmed that additional content—including new cards, enemies, environments, and events—will be added and balanced throughout the Early Access period. The studio emphasized that community feedback played a crucial role in shaping the original game’s success and will once again guide development during this next phase.
