First-person co-op shooter John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is set to launch on March 12, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam & Epic Games Store, and a brand-new gameplay overview trailer now offers a closer look at its chaotic action, cooperative structure, and vehicular combat.

The newly released trailer highlights the game’s core loop, placing players in the boots of a ragtag team of mercenaries tasked with cleaning up a world overrun by undead hordes. Set in a near-future apocalypse caused by a catastrophic scientific experiment, the game blends fast-paced shooting with off-road driving across semi-open environments, all while facing relentless enemy waves powered by Saber Interactive’s Swarm Engine.
Toxic Commando‘s gameplay centers on four-player cooperative action with full cross-platform support. Players can choose between four distinct classes—Strike, Medic, Operator, and Defender—each offering unique abilities that encourage teamwork and role synergy. Missions send squads into infestation zones filled with mutated monstrosities, where combat unfolds both on foot and behind the wheel of heavily armed vehicles designed to plow through enemy crowds.
Combat variety also plays a major role, with a wide arsenal of firearms and secondary weapons ranging from shotguns and SMGs to sniper rifles, pistols, and melee tools. Vehicles are equally important, allowing teams to navigate hostile terrain, escape overwhelming situations, or simply turn zombie swarms into roadkill while maintaining momentum.
Alongside the new trailer, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have confirmed a time-limited public demo running from February 19 to March 2 on Steam. This demo gives players an early opportunity to experience the game’s cooperative combat, class-based abilities, and signature swarm encounters ahead of launch.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando will be available in both Standard and Blood Editions. Pre-orders for any edition include the Leon’s Secret Stash DLC at no extra cost, while the Blood Edition adds post-launch cosmetic content, including character, weapon, and vehicle skins, as well as additional customization items. With its blend of campy horror, explosive co-op action, and unmistakable 1980s-inspired tone, the game aims to deliver a high-energy undead experience when it launches this spring.
