Road to Vostok, a hardcore single-player survival game, will enter Steam Early Access on April 7 for PC. The announcement is accompanied by a new Early Access trailer, marking a major milestone for the long-running solo-developed project. A demo is still available on Steam.

Set in a post-apocalyptic border region between Finland and Russia, Road to Vostok places players in a hostile, systems-driven sandbox where preparation, restraint, and long-term planning are critical to survival. The Early Access release represents the transition from an extended demo phase into a continuously evolving live development cycle, with regular updates, patches, and community-facing communication now planned directly through Steam.
Players begin their journey in Area 05, an evacuated zone that serves as a relatively stable starting region with shelters, traders, and early survival opportunities. From there, the path leads east toward the heavily guarded Border Zone, where mines, patrols, and environmental hazards stand between the player and Vostok itself. Crossing into Vostok introduces the game’s defining risk-reward structure, as these maps operate under permanent death rules where failure results in the complete loss of progression.
Gameplay centers on realistic first-person gunplay, physics-based looting, dynamic weather and seasonal shifts, and a barter-driven economy where every item carries contextual value. Shelters function as both safe havens and save points, offering deep customization and long-term storage, while traders provide tasks, services, and access to rare equipment. The open-ended structure allows players to define their own approach, whether focusing on combat, exploration, trading, or simple survival on the fringes of the map.
Following years of public demos, large-scale playtesting, and community engagement, the Early Access launch establishes Road to Vostok as a persistent survival experience designed to grow over time, shaped by player feedback and iterative updates.
