Apocalypse Studios has released a gameplay deep dive for Deadhaus Sonata, offering the most substantial look yet at the dark fantasy action RPG ahead of its planned 2026 release for PC via Steam. The extended footage features creative director Denis Dyack—best known for Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness—in conversation with Destin Legarie, breaking down core systems and the long-term vision behind the project.

The video showcases extended, in-development gameplay, highlighting real combat flow and pacing, as well as the game’s tarot-driven ability system in action. Players get a clearer sense of how undead characters move, fight, and evolve, with abilities tied to positioning, timing, and build choices rather than simple button-mashing. The trailer also outlines the narrative setup leading into Early Access and introduces the technological foundations of the Eternity Engine, which is designed to support Deadhaus Sonata’s long-term content ambitions.
Set in the decaying world of Malorum, Deadhaus Sonata is a third-person, narrative-driven action RPG where players take on the role of powerful undead, including vampires, battling the living while shaping their legend through choice and consequence. The game supports solo play and cooperative multiplayer for up to six players, with progression built around feeding, class evolution, and a customizable tarot-based skill system. Development is ongoing with a small team, and the studio has emphasized that the footage represents a work in progress.
