The story-driven tactical roguelite Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes has received a new gameplay overview trailer, offering a closer look at its fleet management and combat systems ahead of its previously announced Q1 2026 launch for PC via Steam. The game is in development at Alt Shift and will be published by Dotemu.

Set during the fall of the Twelve Colonies, Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes places players in command of a fleeing survivor fleet under constant threat from the Cylon armada. As a Gunstar Captain, players must manage ship systems, crew morale, and limited resources while navigating a collapsing galaxy and responding to escalating crises. The newly released trailer highlights how strategic decision-making ties directly into survival, with every action influencing the fleet’s readiness and the Cylons’ pursuit.
Gameplay blends roguelite structure with narrative-driven dilemmas, challenging players to balance competing factions aboard their ships, resolve internal threats such as hidden impostors, and make irreversible choices under pressure. Each sector introduces new planets and points of interest, while the procedural narrative ensures that no two escape attempts unfold the same way.
Combat encounters emphasize high-stakes tactical engagements against overwhelming odds. Players must deploy squadrons, manage cooldowns, and use tactical pause to issue commands while protecting the fleet long enough to complete FTL jump calculations. Damage to ships, lost squadrons, and depleted resources carry forward, reinforcing the sense of attrition that defines each run.
Progression allows players to unlock new Gunstar fleets, squadrons, and meta upgrades that improve long-term survivability. Drawing on Alt Shift’s experience with Crying Suns, the game aims to combine systemic storytelling, strategic depth, and the distinctive tone of the Battlestar Galactica universe as players struggle to reunite with humanity’s last hope.
