A demo for the atmospheric Metroidvania Nocturnal 2 will launch on January 27 for PC via Steam, ahead of the game’s full release later this year on Nintendo Switch and PC. Developed by Sunnyside Games, the demo offers more than an hour of gameplay and is designed as a spoiler-safe introduction to the world, systems, and tone of the upcoming sequel.

Set in the cursed city of Ytash, Nocturnal 2 follows Ardeshir, wielder of the Enduring Flame, as he descends into shadowed depths and ascends crumbling heights in an effort to lift a consuming curse. The demo allows access to an early section of the interconnected city, where new abilities can be unlocked and put to use to open fresh paths, sample the combat flow, and uncover fragments of the game’s lore without revealing major story beats from the full release.
Building on the foundations of its predecessor, Nocturnal 2 emphasizes fluid movement, precise combat, and a strong sense of atmosphere. Its hand-drawn visuals draw inspiration from Persian architecture, while exploration and discovery are kept front and center through a minimalist design philosophy that rewards curiosity and mastery of newly acquired skills.
