Ubisoft and SCREEN JUICE have announced that Morbid Metal, the roguelike action game known for its high-speed shapeshifting combat, will host its first-ever public playtest on November 18. This marks the next major milestone for the project as development continues toward its Early Access release for PC via Steam.

The playtest offers players an exclusive chance to experience the latest version of Morbid Metal, featuring expanded content, gameplay improvements, and new systems not seen in previous demos. Morbid Metal‘s developers emphasize that this session isn’t just a test—it’s an opportunity for the community to directly influence the game’s evolution. Fans are invited to join the official Discord to share feedback, report findings, and engage with the dev team throughout the playtest period.
Set in a decaying far-future world overrun by hostile machines, Morbid Metal delivers a blend of fluid action and strategic roguelike progression. Players can seamlessly shapeshift between four distinct characters, each with unique abilities and combat styles, to unleash fast-paced combos and stylish counterattacks. Every run challenges players to master their forms, upgrade their skills, and push deeper into semi-procedurally generated arenas where death is just the beginning.
Originally slated to enter Early Access in August, Morbid Metal continues to refine its “Shapeshift, Slaughter, Repeat” formula with the help of player feedback. The upcoming playtest aims to prepare the game for its next public release phase.
