Castle of Heart: Retold, a massively upgraded version of the original side-scrolling action adventure, will launch on October 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG for $14.99/€14.99, developer 7LEVELS announced.

This new edition introduces sweeping improvements across gameplay, visuals, and story presentation. Players step into the role of Svaran, a Slavic warrior cursed to slowly turn into stone. His mission is to rescue the last priestess of Mokosh from the Sorcerer, servant of the dark god Chernobog. Combat is not just about defeating enemies—maintaining a kill streak is vital to prevent Svaran’s body from disintegrating, costing him limbs and the ability to wield weapons.
Across four distinct landscapes inspired by Slavic folklore, players will clash with chorts, ghouls, vodniks, and other mythological creatures. The game has been rebuilt with rebalanced combat, smoother platforming, improved animations, redesigned cutscenes, and fully rewritten dialogue. New lighting, remixed music, and enhanced character models further refine the medieval atmosphere. Multiple reimagined endings await those who collect the hidden Crystals of Mokosh, completing the tale of defiance and sacrifice.
