Ubisoft has unveiled the mysterious ice faction Schism in Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the long-anticipated sequel to the legendary turn-based strategy series.

Schism is a faction for players who enjoy Lovecraftian themes, forbidden rituals, ice magic, and, yes, tentacles. First shown last week during the Gamescom Awesome Indies Showcase, the faction is composed of dissidents who broke away from the Alvar, the dominant continental power of Jadame, seeking their own solution to the threat of the Hive. In a remote region of snow-covered mountains and frozen ravines, the Schism established a society focused on literacy, strict hierarchy, and the pursuit of lost rituals from their Vori ancestors.
Faction leaders wield dangerous, potent magic, summoning hordes of monstrous supernatural creatures while disrupting enemy abilities. With their numerical advantage and mastery of ice magic, they aim to overwhelm and subjugate opponents. Alongside Schism, players can explore other factions such as Hive, Necropolis, Dungeon, and Sylvan in more in-depth analyses.
The Heroes of Might and Magic franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary on October 9 with special events streamed on Twitch and YouTube. These streams will feature interviews reflecting on the past, present, and future of the series, with a special appearance from Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. The game will launch later for Windows PC via Steam Early Access.
