Capcom has unveiled a new trailer and screenshots for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the upcoming dark fantasy action game set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The footage debuted during the publisher’s latest showcase and introduces a chilling new area, terrifying enemies, and expanded combat mechanics.

The trailer takes players deep beneath Kyoto, where a secret laboratory houses the twisted experiments of the enigmatic Dokyo. Among her creations are the Greater Nue, a chimeric beast wielding lightning attacks; the Kogashira, humans corrupted by parasitic Genma that spread clouds of poison; and the Chijiko, a grotesque entity formed from countless human faces and armed with far-reaching tentacles.
To face these horrors, protagonist Musashi Miyamoto wields iconic Onimusha abilities such as Issen and Soul Absorption, alongside new mechanics that expand the swordplay system. Players can deflect attacks, parry strikes to stagger enemies, trigger the Blazing State for enhanced power, and carefully time soul absorption to recover health or strengthen equipment. Each mechanic adds layers of precision and strategy to combat while staying faithful to the series’ legacy.
