Woochi the Wayfarer Brings Joseon-Era Fantasy Action-Adventure to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC

Publisher Nexon Games and developer LoreVault have announced Woochi the Wayfarer, a single-player fantasy action adventure set in Korea’s Joseon era. The game is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a release date yet to be announced.

Inspired by the classic Korean novel The Tale of Jeon Woochi, the game follows the adventures of Jeon Woochi, a powerful mage who uses his abilities to fight injustice and outwit the corrupt. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Woochi the Wayfarer aims to immerse players in a vivid Joseon-era fantasy world filled with traditional monsters, magical landscapes, and an original story that blends Korean cultural heritage with a universal emotional appeal.

A newly released teaser runs for just over two minutes, introducing Myoan, a mysterious shaman chanting an incantation, and the silhouette of Woochi standing in a dense forest. The trailer builds tension before showing a fierce confrontation between the two characters. The game’s soundtrack, composed by Jung Jae-il — known for his work on Parasite and Squid Game — draws on traditional Korean music to enhance its atmosphere.

LoreVault is working closely with experts in Korean literature and traditional arts to faithfully represent the country’s history and culture. The team has also conducted on-location research at cultural heritage sites to recreate the Joseon era in high-quality 3D. Nexon Games CEO Park Yong-hyun says the goal is to deliver a “fresh and unique play experience” that will resonate with players worldwide.
