Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Weappy have released a brand-new trailer for their upcoming 2D platformer The Eternal Life of Goldman, titled “Can Fairy Tales Hurt?” The video arrives alongside a fresh set of screenshots, showcasing the game’s unique art direction and mysterious narrative.

The Eternal Life of Goldman is a side-scrolling adventure set across a hand-drawn archipelago inspired by ancient myths and fairy tales. Players take on the role of a protagonist sent to an unfamiliar land with a singular goal: to find and kill a mysterious Deity no one has ever seen.
The game emphasizes exploration, puzzle-solving, and improvisation-based platforming, while eschewing traditional frustrations like forced backtracking or punishing memorization. Players can upgrade their cane with modular parts, unlocking new traversal abilities as they delve into the Archipelago’s secrets and confront its many odd creatures.
Visually, The Eternal Life of Goldman is brought to life with meticulous frame-by-frame animation. Each scene, character, and background is drawn and colored by hand, aiming to capture the wonder and charm of classic animated works and 16-bit era titles—while adding a deeply personal, modern twist.
Weappy describes the experience as vibrant yet dark, filled with eccentric characters, unexpected turns, and a richly layered story designed to challenge genre conventions without alienating longtime fans.
The Eternal Life of Goldman is set to release in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam.
